An ancient paper craft is revived and updated with these kits. Tatebanko is the Japanese art of creating beautiful scenic perspectives in the form of paper dioramas. This art form popular and widely admired from the 17th century (Edo period) to the early 20th century nearly disappeared. The kits pay homage to famed Edo artist Hiroshige who created a series of 53 paintings after a long journey. "Evening Snow", the series masterpiece, is reproduced by this kit. Evening Snow dramatically conveys the silence of a wintery scene at a village that had not seen snow for years. The mystery is that Hiroshige visited in summer.
